Taking Diovan 160 Along With Ziac And Norvasc. Can Diovan Be Replaced With Atenonol?
Thanks for writing in.
I am a qualified and certified cardiologist. I read your mail with diligence.
The reason for change is understandable.
I have not examined you so it is difficult to for me to comment on suitability of a Beta Blocker (Atenolol). However, if your doctor feels that it is appropriate to give you this drug (meaning thereby you do not have any contraindication to B Blockers) there absolutely no problem in switch to a dose so as to achieve same degree of control of blood pressure. Personally, I would have changed to Terlmisartan (40 mg or 80 mg) as it belongs to the same family of medicine and perhaps much economical as compared to Diovan 160 but you treating doctor is the best judge. If you have any further question for me I shall be happy to answer. Change is not unusual in high blood pressure patients as we say there is no drug of choice in hypertension but there is a choice of drugs. Good Luck.
Regards.
With best wishes.
