Taking Duphaston And Emergency Contraception My Partner Hasn't Got Her
Question: Taking Duphaston And Emergency Contraception
My partner hasn't got her period for over 2 months now and really wants to jump to taking duphaston 10mg twice daily to increase the hormone to get the periods flowing.
We did a pregnancy home kit test and a blood test a month ago and it was negative- can this be false negative?
Last week she took the plan b - contingency one levonorgestrel as a safety measure after an incident.
My question is how soon can she start duphaston- assuming she is not pregnant.
Currently she has multiple side effects- diznnes, fatigue, headache, heavy breast , nauses, sensitive nibbles.
Looking for your advice.

Brief Answer:
She can start Duphaston after a repeat test to rule out pregnancy.
Detailed Answer:
Hello.
Thanks for writing to us.
A blood test cannot be false negative for pregnancy. But since the test was done one month ago, you need to repeat the test now before starting Duphaston. Taking an emergency contraceptive delays the period further. She can start with Duphaston 10 mg twice a day for 5 days after getting blood pregnancy test done again to rule out pregnancy. The side effects that she is having now are also related to the emergency contraceptive. It is best to use a regular contraceptive instead.
Hope this answer is helpful.
