Taking Metformin. Pink Bleeding, Tired, No Concentration. Have PCOS. What Is Wrong With Me?
Welcome to XXXXXXX
Metformin is an anti-diabetic drug. Women suffering with PCOS, generally have insulin resistance, thus metformin was prescribed to you.
Menstrual period generally starts on 14th day of ovulation. But in women with PCOS, ovulation is suppressed. Menstrual cycles becomes irregular, bleeding during period is sometimes heavy and other times light also.
Very light/spotty bleeding pinkish/brownish in color, can occur due to implantation also. But bleeding due to implantation generally doesn't continue for 3 days.
Your symptoms can be due to hormonal irregularity.
Metformin can improve your fertility by reversing endocrine abnormality and improving your ovulatory response.
If the bleeding was in the form of spots only, you can get pregnancy tested after a week.

Thank you the response was great. My next question is why an opk test says that i am ovulating however when we have had sex nothing seems to happen. My husband has had a motility test done and he has a normal count. The OBGYN said that i may not have any mature eggs. How long should it be before the metformin starts to help with the improvement and maturity of my eggs. We have been ttc now for over 12 months and had 3 cycles of clomid. I know i shouldnt but its hard when my friends are all conceiving around me.
Welcome again,
OPK test detects Luteinizing Hormone (LH) surge only. Normally ovulation occurs within 24-48 hours of LH surge. In case of PCOS, ovulation may not follow LH surge.
You can prepare a Basal body temperature rise by 0.4-0.8 F on day of ovulation and remain same during remaining part of menstrual cycle.
To identify day of ovulation, you can use cervical mucus detection method also.
Cervix raises to slightly higher position just before & during ovulation.
"How much time Metformin will take" vary from patient to patient.
Clomiphen is used to stimulate ovulation. If clomiphen doesn't work, a new anti-estrogen called Letrozole can be used.
Clomifen resistant women suffering with PCOD, may need HMG(gonadotrophin) to induce ovulation.
Difficult patients may require a combination of GnRH analog and HMG to induce ovulation successfully.
Low doses of dexamethasone can be given simultaneously to suppress androgen production from adrenal gland.
