Taking Prothiaden To Reduce Nerve Pain. Will It Be Safe To Take Cymbalta?
Question: i am presently taking prothiaden (dothiapein)25 mg at night. I am 53 years old male. I heard that taking cymbalta will reduce pain.
Hi Mr XXXXXXX
Thank you for posting your query.
Medications for reducing nerve pain are: Prothiaden, tryptomer (amitriptyline), cymbalta (duloxetine), lyrica (pregabalin) and gabapentin.
Of these, the best efficacy is there for pregabalin and gabapentin.
Cymbalta, in addition to relieving nerve pain, also has anti depressant properties.
So, looking at your medical details, it may be a good option for you.
I hope it helps. Please get back if you have any more queries.
Best wishes,

You can take lyrica (pregabalin). The usual starting dose is 75 mg at bed time. Depending on the response the dose can be increased to 75 mg twice daily, maximum dose is 150 mg twice daily.

Hi,
Thank you for getting back.
You should continue your BP medications as at present.
You can stop Prothiaden, and start with Lyrica at the same time.
Clonotril is a medicine for anxiety and sleep, so, you may have to continue it.
Please discuss with your doctor before making any changes.
