Tested For Thyroid Stimulating Hormone. What Are The Findings?

default
Posted on Wed, 20 Feb 2013
Question: Hi,

I did a TSH test and this is the result.
THYROID STIMULATING HORMONE (TSH)

Method = C.L.I.A
Value and unit = 1.95µIU/ml
Reference range = 0.30 - 5.5

What does this mean? Do I have to undergo further tests to know if i have thyroid issues?

Thanks,

Dear XXXXXXX
Thanks for writing in. Your TSH report is in normal range. TSH is the most sensotive indicator of thyroid status. In hypothyroidism TSH values are above normal and in hyperthyroidism they are suppressed. So if TSH is normal then thyroid function is normal. So no additional test is required.
Hope this helps
