Brief Answer:
Due to nerve compression and decreased blood circulation.

Detailed Answer:
Hello,
Thanks for posting your query.
Presence of large non healing sores on the leg are suggestive of decreased blood circulation in the area. The numbness is suggestive of a nerve related problem. There can be a nerve root compression at the level of lower spine. Proper investigations like MRI scan of the spine are needed for proper diagnosis and treatment.
I hope this answers your query.
In case you have additional questions or doubts, you can forward them to me, and I shall be glad to help you out.
Wishing you good health.

Respectfully Doctor, I was anticipating your attention and response would consider knee injury- mechanism and potential injuries about the knee that would populate his persistent subjective complaints and worrisome objective findings.
Wondering if posterior lateral subluxation occurred with contusion the posterior neurovascular elements.
Explanation for calf asymmetry, indolent skin lesions and hair changes and sensory changes are consistent with traumatic event to the posterior neurovascular elements.
I remain concerned but hopeful that once evaluated by Vascular surgeon, further testing will find my son in a better place

Brief Answer:
Color doppler scan can help.

Detailed Answer:
Hello.
Thanks for writing again.
A torn medial meniscus that is repaired is not likely to cause a neurovascular injury. Color doppler scan and a nerve conduction study will hep in detecting such abnormality. You can consult a neurovascular surgeon after these investigations.
Hope my answer is helpful.
