The Big Toe And One Next To It Are Sometimes Painful In The Spots
Question: Please take a look at my toes.
The big toe and one next to it are sometimes painful in the spots. My feet also smell really awful and turn red sometimes. Just one foot.
Brief Answer:
Please give additional information / photos
Detailed Answer:
Hi.
Thanks for your query.
Noted your history and seen the photos.
Your problems are only in one foot. Do you mean that the other one fully normal?
Just looking at the toes this looks to be like a condition called as paronychia. But then this is limited only to the toe/toes.
If one foot is getting red, smells as you mentioned then we have to think of other conditions:
Hence I would like to ask you more question:
- Any history of diabetes?
- Any pain and/or swelling in the calf area / full leg?
- Since when is this going on?
- Any investigations like color doppler of the affected lower limb/ other tests? Please post .
- Any treatment till now?
Also post clear and focused photos of the whole affected area/foot / lower limb.
Till then:
Keep the feet in elevated position, heel should be minimum 8 inches above the heart level in lying down position.
Please give additional information / photos

My third and forth toes have been broken by dropping an item unintentionally on them over a year ago, they have not been right since. I do not have diabetes. I am an athlete, and have a both feet smell, but only my left foot, specifically the toes are redder than the other, sometimes. Not always. I have been told I have planters warts by a dermatologist on the two toes in the photos. I have had them treated over a year ago. But the two areas shown are tender.
Brief Answer:
X-rays and investigations to know the exact diagnosis

Hi,
Thanks for writing back
Your photos not seen. Have you deleted. Please add more photos.
Thanks for your feedback.
History of fracture as you have mentioned indicates that the healing was not complete due to your daily and athletic activities,
Hence the redness and any other symptoms that you have .
As a thumb rule any such injuries need strict rest for at least 3 to 6 weeks for complete recovery and then only you can have complete healing. Otherwise it will have symptoms the moment the are comes under stress.
It is advisable to have X-rays in both vies to see whether the healing has occurred or if there is any other problems.
Give complete rest to the affected area for proper healing.
Elevate the legs above heart level when you are resting.
Do not cause more stress for the foot.
As for the smelling feet, nothing is certainly found. But regular washing the feet, changing to pure cotton socks to be regularly changed, avoidance of some foods that contain onion, garlic may improve the smell.
Now a day special socks with anti-bacterial activity are available.
As for the warts: wet feet develop these and are mostly viral in origin - local application of certain liquids can clear these - of course with consultation of your Dermatologist.
Antibiotics and anti-inflammatory medicines as would be advise3d by your Doctors, on prescription is a better way.
Take care and let me know the follow up.
Photos awaited.
I hope this answer helps you.
