The Inner Corner Of My Right Eye Started Burning And

Posted on Wed, 3 Oct 2018
Question: The inner corner of my right eye started burning and itching constantly about 2 weeks ago. Now my left eye is starting to do the same thing. The eyes aren't swollen but are very irritated. Is there anything? Should I be concerned? I do wear glasses and at the last check up was told my tear duct is blocked but that was not a big deal.

Brief Answer:
Probably conjunctivitis, follow the advice below.

Detailed Answer:
Hello dear and welcome to ‘Ask A Doctor’ service. I reviewed your query and here is my advice.

Your symptoms seem to be related to conjunctivitis. The cause usually can be an infection or allergy.

Some advice that I can give to you are:
-wash and dry frequently the eyes
-use over the counter eye drops to calm the conjunctiva
-antibiotics may be needed. They are usually given as topical treatment. I usually recommend Tobradex which is a prescribed medication. You should consult your doctor about this treatment.
-Apply a compress to your eyes with cool water

Hope I have answered your query.
Let me know if I can assist you further.
