Detailed Answer:
Hi,
Thank you for the query. I can understand your concern. According to your statement, you may suffer from pulled muscle or muscle strain. Pulled muscle, muscle strain or muscle tear indicates damage to a muscle of particular area of the body or its attaching tendons. It may be resulted from putting undue pressure on the muscles of your thumb. Muscle damage can be in the form of tearing of muscle fibers and its associated tendons. This tearing muscle can damage the blood vessels and irritation of nerve endings in that area and eventually develop bruising and pain.
Symptoms of pulled muscle or muscle strain are pain when the muscle of that particular area is used, restricted movement, unable to use, stiffness or rigid, pain even at rest etc. X-ray or MRI of that area may help to detect the damage.
You can take painkillers like ibuprofen, naproxen or aceclofenac, keep resting the affected area, apply cool packs for 20 minutes every hourly, protect your affected area from further any injury or trauma, try to move your thumb slowly etc may help to heal the pulled muscle or muscle strain of your thumb. If your painful condition of thumb bother you or persist for long, then you should consult your doctor promptly.
Take care. Hope I have answered your question. Let me know if I can assist you further.
