Question: This AM I fell down outside stairs. I landed on my knee. It was only slightly sore. However, when I got to work 30 minutes later, it was a prune size lump on front of knee. I am 61 and also have arthritis. I did not notice the swelling until after Fall however.

Brief Answer:
Probably the symptoms seem to be related to the injury, follow the advice

Detailed Answer:
Hello dear and welcome to ‘Ask A Doctor’ service.
I have reviewed your query and here is my advice.

Your symptoms seem to be related to a lump due to the injury.

I recommend using anti-inflammatory medications for the pain and the edema, such as Ibuprofen 400 mg three tablets a day.

I also recommend to use cool compresses in the area of the lump.

I suggest to elevate the area to reduce the swelling.

The lump will go away on its own in a few days.

Hope I have answered your query.
Let me know if I can assist you further.
