This Question Is For An Ophthalmologist. My 30 Year Old
Question: This Question is for an Ophthalmologist. My 30 year old son who is a contact lens wearer started having extremely swollen eye today and it has gotten worse this evening. he slept with the lens in two days ago and then started an infection today. Eye very very red and oozing discharge. upper lid almost completely swollen shut. Under eye lid has protruding swelling in the tissue. this is Christmas day so no way to see an eye doctor until Saturday or Monday. Can antibiotic drops and or oral meds be prescribed until the doctor offices are again open? What should we do?
Brief Answer:
Go to the ER immediately please
Detailed Answer:
Hey thanks for the question . This does sounds like an infection and usually in contact lens induced infections vision can be harmed if action not taken immediately . Therefore I urge you not to take this lightly and go to the ER . They will have an ophthalmology resident on call and he/ she can help you . He will need oral/ iv and topical antibiotics along with anti inflammatory medicines . Hopw it helps . Regards
