Question: This afternoon, I was cleaning out a little-used closet and reached into a spiderweb unknowingly. I did not see a spider or feel a bite, and went about my business. An hour or so later I started feeling a pain in my neck and felt a red bump. That was about 8 hours ago. I seems like the redness and soreness is spreading, especially in a thin line going down from the bump and curving toward the front of my neck (see picture). I am a little worried. We do have Brown Recluses in West XXXXXXX where I live, and the spreading concerns me.
Brief Answer:
Doesn't look like typical recluse spider bite.
Detailed Answer:
Hello dear, welcome to Ask a doctor's service.
I read your query and here is my advice
I see the photo you attached and neck is really red and s white bump appears. It doesn't look like a typical recluse spider bite but that doesn't exclude it totally .
You can take antihistamines such benadryl orally. Also you can use antibacterial cream over it .
Use acetaminophen for pain.
If you see that tha white point turns red, brown go to ER.
Hope I have answered the question .
