Question: This was written in my x-Ray report. What does it mean?Visualized soft tissue and osseous structures are remarkable for elevation of the right .hemidiaphragm

Hi,

Thanks for your query.

The report simply means that the diaphragm (muscular separation between abdomen and chest cavity) is elevated on one side.

The right sided elevation of diaphragm can be normal many a times without any underlying pathology.

Occasionally when the liver is enlarged heavily or there is an abscess (pus collection) above the liver the right hemidiaphragm can be elevated.
