Question: To be answered by Dr. Spaho. Hi, again, doctor. It will be some time yet before I back to neurologist but did need to see dentist who cut a bit around gum. Big mistake since it inflamed this atypical odontalgia. Two prong question. Can this type of neuralgia affect the ear and side of face (jaw line) (both are aching after this dental work) and also, the gum area where he cut is numb when I try to apply some topical solutions doctor gave me. Extremely uncomfortable with the gum numb (not from a numbing agent) and yet that ache is still raging. Obviously, nerve was further damaged in an area where it is pretty devoid of gum now between the implants. Do you feel sensation will slowly return? Any suggestions u may have would be so appreciated.

Brief Answer:
Trauma may exacerbate your symptoms.

Detailed Answer:
Hello again.

I have read your new question.

Any trauma, even minor to your gums may exacerbate the previous symptoms.

It is also possible for the numbness to spread on the adjacent areas of the face.

These symptoms should be improved partially with time, and, drugs that we discussed before that may be used, should contribute to improvement.

Try to avoid trauma or any other precipitating factor for your symptoms.

Hope this helps.

feel free to ask if you have further questions.

Best regards.
