Today I Went To Hiv Test At Std Clinic In

Question: Today i went to hiv test at std clinic in amsterdam. A lot of people with std came here for test. The clinic used a reusable vacutainer tube holder in blood drawing. I saw tiny spots of blood inside the tube holder. The nurse then used cotton with alcohol to clean it inside. I also saw a tiny spec of dried blood and i used my nail to get it of it. My question is, because the nurse did not wear gloves, if somehow the dried blood that she cleaned off end up on her hand and that she prepare the needle and tube, am I being at risk for hiv infection? Also after that i scratch the back of my ear but found out i have a wound behind with scab of blood coming out after i scratch, am i also get infected if my nail has dried blood on it and I then scratch my wound?

Hello and welcome in "Ask a Doctor".
I have reviewed your query and here is my advice.
Based on your history, get contact with dried blood even from the hand of nurse or from your hand I think you shouldn't worry because there is no risk for HIV .You should know that HIV cannot live outside the body just few minutes.
Hope I have answered your query.

Brief Answer:
There could be a risk of transmission.
Detailed Answer:
Hello and welcome back.
I am sorry for my late response.
You should know that if you are vaccinated for HEP B there is no risk to get the HBV in these situations.
But usually, it is known that the HBV and HCV could live in dried blood till 3 weeks.
So, there could be a risk of transmission.
Hope I have answered your query.
