Toddler Having Brown Kidney Shaped Stool. What Is Going On?
Hi,
Thanks for writing in.
Assuming cystic fibrosis to have been ruled out then the kids nutritional parameters need to be assessed. This specifically relates to calcium and iron deficiency. This can give rise to pica which can lead to such objects in the stools.
Another suggested investigation is a stool examination which will give the nature of those objects.
If the child is on antibiotics for chest infection then that cause severe disturbances in the gut flora leading to passage of thich mucus in the stools.
I hope this answers your querry.
