Toddlers Belly Started Bulging To One Side. Should I Be Worried?
Question: My 16 weeks old baby's belly is buldging out upper left side, a lot, has been for most part of the last 6 weeks, is there a reason to worry?
Hi,
Welcome to XXXXXXX
Your baby is so cute!
There are 2 possibilities
1- lax abdominal muscles when there is some apparent fullness.
2- enlargement of underlying organs - on the upper left should be spleen and kidney.
The best way to find out is by clinical examination and ultrasound of abdomen .
In your picture it looks like mild bulge..you have to repeat the picture concentrating on the whole abdomen.
Good luck
God bless

Hi Dr. Uma,
Thank you for your response, here is a better picture. He has also been constipated a lot, what do you think?

Hi,
Thanks for the clear picture.
Yes you are correct in your observation.
I would go for the left kidney from the picture.
Please go to the pediatrician for ultrasound and clinical examination.
After the ultrasound and some tests, he can guide you to the concerned specialist.
Ultrasound will localise the swelling.
I don't think it is related to the constipation directly, but there can be indirect relation.
Pl do not delay .
