Treatment For Liver Cirrhosis, Hepatocellular Carcinoma And Renal Failure?
Thank you for the query.
Liver Cirrhosis is something what can not be treated. This is irreversible condition and only way to get rid of it is liver transplant. HCC can be treated also with liver transplant or surgical removal. But it all depend of the stage of the diseases.
Kidney failure can be reversible if this is acute type of it. The best way of acute kidney failure treatment is to give fluids and medicines which do increase urine amount.
But unfortunately your Grand Father does suffer from hepatorenal syndrome. This condition also needs liver transplant to be treated. Moreover, it needs Intensive Care Unit and many different medicines and fluids to be controlled. Such treatment is very complicated (too complicated to mention it here).
Hope this will help. Feel free to ask further questions.
Regards.
Could you please clariffy the below queries,
1) Is this infectious and the persons taking care of him need to take any precautions like vaccines?
2) Is this would be a heriditary? Can this be effected to the next genes?
3) Although this is not curable, can we stop the further growth of the disease?
4) At the age of 78-83, would you suggest for liver transplant?
5) Can you suggest me on the Quality of Life, like how many years can he sustain etc.
1. Hepatocellular cancer is not infectious diseases. It can appear due to alcohol abuse, liver viral infection (Hepatitis B and C), diabetes and obesity. Generally all diseases causing liver cirrhosis can increase the risk of liver cancer. The only way it can be contagious is due to HBV and HCV infection (both viruses spread with blood - like transfusions, needles etc.). No vaccines necessary.
2. This is not hereditary disease.
3. The only way to stop is to cure it. Otherwise, growth can be slowed down with chemotherapy, radiofrequency ablation.
4. The age is not a limitation for liver transplant. More important is general condition and stage of the cancer.
5.It is always hard to tell how long the patient can survive, but generally if the cancer is not curable, it takes from 3-6 months.
Hope this will help.

1) how much necesity of Oxygen gas and XXXXXXX fluids to the patient?
2) can we atleast take the complete ascitis water out and make him free from stomach?
And also please suggest your expeirince here on other medications other than hallopathy, if they can help.
Regards
1. Hard to say how much Oxygen the patient should recieve. Usually it is regulated by saturation percentage (it should be around 100%). Amount of fluids also depends of the body hydration and ions level (should be controlled with Sodium and Potassium level, creatinine level, legs swelling and lungs condition). Generally it should be about 3l/24 hours.
2. It is impossible to get rid of ascites without fixing the reason of it. Even if you do puncture the abdominal cavity and remove as much fluid as possible, new one will accumulate. Moreover, such fluid drainage can cause life threatening shock due to sudden drop of pressure inside the abdomen. That is why after every fluid drainage, albumins should be given.
Medicines which should be used for cancer patients are:
Morphine or Fentanyl transdermal patches
Steroids injections
Antivomiting medicnes (like Ondansetrone, Thietylpernazinum)
Hope this will help. Feel free to ask further questions.
