Treatment For Lower Abdominal Pain?
Thank you for the query.
Lower abdominal pain can be caused by urinary tract stones which are the most common reasons. Other possible reasons are diverticulitis, inflammatory bowels disease, inguinal hernia, prostate inflammation.
As you have RBC in the urine, this indicates urinary tract problem. Can you please attach your blood work and urine analysis?
RBC in the urine usually appears due to stones or infection. Stones irritate urinary tract and cause tiny wounds in it. Through these wounds, erythrocytes can get to the urine. RBC in the urine can be the only laboratory indication of stones.
With urinary tract problem you may have back pain, lower abdominal pain radiating to the groin, frequent urinating and pain while urinating. Infection gives constant pain, stones give sudden and strong pain which can come and go.
RBC in the urine can also indicate prostate inflammation. This condition gives sharp lower abdominal pain radiating to the anus. Urinating problems can be present.
Diverticulitis usually gives lower left abdominal pain. It is caused by constipation so if you have had any chronic constipation, it is possible.
Inflammatory bowels disease can give diarrhea, constipation, blood in the stool, mucus in the stool, weight lost and weakness.
Inguinal hernia should give a lump in the groin. The pain aggravates when coughing or lifting heavy objects.
As your urinary tract problem is most possible, I suggest you to have urine analysis repeated and urine culture test done. Abdominal ultrasound can sometimes visualize stones. If the RBC will be still in the urine, urologist consult is necessary and cystoscopy should be considered.
In a meanwhile please drink plenty of mineral water (2-3 l/24 hours), use cranberries supplements. Stairs walking, jumping or jogging can be helpful to get rid of stones. Hot bath should help with the pain.
Hope this will help. Feel free to ask further questions.
