Twice Yearly Blood Work Came Back Normal Yesterday, As Well

Question: Twice yearly blood work came back normal yesterday, as well as a complete abdominal ultrasound. Six months ago, a fecal test came back normal too. Then why did I have two bowel movements in November with gray stool? Why did I have one bright red blood dot stuck on my bowel movement last Wednesday? I have a mild case of IBS not IBD. I have hemorrhoids. Is this indicative of cancer? Is this indicative of polyps? I am 66 and these two things never happened in my life. The blood floats in the toilet with my hemorrhoids or is on the toilet paper. Not that one time! I never saw it stuck right on the stool. I know what I saw. I do not eat tomatoes so it wasn't a peel. Please respond about the gray stool and do not leave anything out of your answer! Thank you.

Why do gastroenterologists push colonoscopies so often and the general practitioners feel you don't need one in many cases???
Brief Answer:
Symptoms are related to IBS and hemorrhoid, colonoscopy is recommended
Detailed Answer:
Hello dear and welcome to ‘Ask A Doctor’ service. I have reviewed your query and here is my advice.
I understand your concern.
I already reviewed your medical history.
The grey stool can be related to irritable bowel syndrome.
The bleeding can be related to hemorrhoids.
I would recommend using daily probiotics.
I would also recommend using an anti hemorrhoid cream for local application.
I don't see any indication of cancer or polyps through the information provided from the query.
Anyway, colonoscopy would be very helpful to exclude these examinations.
Colonoscopy is an endoscopic examination used as a screening test for colon cancer.
This is why this examination is often preferred by the gastrologists.
Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.
