Two Weeks Ago I Was Diagnosed With A UTI Which

Question: Two weeks ago I was diagnosed with a UTI which progressed to kidney pain. Antibiotics cleared it however two days after finishing my antibiotics the pain came back (pressure in bladder and on and off pain in my lower back) and vomiting. I went to the emergency room last night where my urine was clear. They admitted me and did bloods and a chest x Ray and kept me in over night on fluids. The doctor said there was absolutely no sign of infection in my urine sample or blood so discharged me however I am still feeling nauseous with back pain. Is it impossible for me to have a kidney infection/UTI after the tests they have done?

Brief Answer:
Kidney stones also possible.

Detailed Answer:
Hello dear, welcome to Ask a doctor service.
I read your query and here is my advice.

I think you should have done an abdominal ultrasound to check for kidney stones and urinary track infection.
Also you may need to wait for 2 more days before doing another urine analysis and uroculture.
You may be having a reoccurrence of uti but since you have recently used antibiotics the urine analysis is clear.
Also you may need to do sedimentation test and C reactive protein test.
So as a conclusion you may be suffering from a reoccurrence of uti or kidney stones and need to do an ultrasound and uroculture.
Hope I have answered the question.

Brief Answer:
More likely an infection than an uti.

Detailed Answer:
Your blood and urine tests may have been clear because you are still under the effects of antibiotics you recently used. If the pain isn't so intense then it is more likely to be an infection rather than kidney stones.
You may need to go to hospital for an ultrasound. Also you may need to do an uroculture.

Would I need to go to a hospital to get this done?

I don’t think it could be a kidney stone as the pain isn’t intense. The bladder pain has stopped a little bit but the pain in my back is little twinges every now and again around the hip bones and just above. If it was a UTI returning would that not have been picked up by the blood work and urine test?
