UTI Infection The Pain Is Terrible Could It Be A Kidney Stone

Question: Probably a UTI infection, It all happened today in the AM, almost 20 hours ago, I woke up and can't pass urineSevere cramps in my groin area... My Father is a Surgeon (FRCS, FICS) and my mother is a Pediatrician and a family doctor... Of course I got in touch with both, by my father and he suspected Prostatitis (Although he said I was young for that) so he examined it using his finger and he said nothing can be felt. I can barely drop few drops of Urine, he recommended a catheter if the pain is irresistible and this by itself is an Anxiety Issue for me!
I started antibiotic (Curam 1MG twice daily, took 1 tab till now) and Took Advil (as painkiller which didn't help) - not sure what you think?
Please advise.

Brief Answer:
It could be a kidney stone.
Detailed Answer:
Hi,
I am sorry to hear about your troubles. From what you describe it sounds like a kidney stone. Do you experience pain associated with voiding or are you simply not able to void any urine? Is the pain constant or intermittent?
I suggest you have a urinalysis performed, it can help differentiate between infection and stones. A computed tomography scan is the best way to find urinary stones.
Let me know how it goes.
Thanks

Hello Doctor,
Thanks for your quick reply.
I don't have any pains in the sides, no blood in the urine (VERY little urine comes out more frequently) ... So basically urinated like 20 times but few drops only each time.
The pain is cramping in my groin and my bladder is certainly full!
Can I just sleep a little and take a rest (I am worried about my fathers' word about the urgency of placing a catheter) ?
Thanks for your quick reply.

Brief Answer:
It is perfectly fine to rest.
Detailed Answer:
Hi again,
It is perfectly fine for you to rest. If you do not feel better when you wake up, I suggest you see a doctor. If your bladder is full and you cannot empty it, a bladder catheter is the way to go. It is unpleasant, but the immediate emptying of your bladder will outweigh this discomfort. Also urinalysis can be done by your doctor.
Hope this helps.
