WHat Causes Tinitus?

Question: My ears are ringing constantly and have been for years, wheni was in my twenties I took asa every day as I had rheumatic fever, this was prescribed by MD . The ringing has never left but now I am having dizziness and feeling that I must be carefull to maintain my balance. I am a nurse . I also take Toprol xl for afib and xarelto also It seems to elevate the ringing .I feel like my head is full and vision needs a glasses exchange.

First of all, I would like to reassure you that these are not suggestive of any serious neurological disease. The most likely cause of your tinnitus (ringing in the ears) and recent imbalance is related to ear dysfunction. An ENT evaluation along with audiometry would be helpful in confirming the diagnosis. In addition, a detailed neurological examination should also be done to make sure there are no cerebellar signs. Betahistine tablets may help reduce the severity of symptoms.
