Question: Hi i am doing a research on female body shapes and wanted to understand a bit more about protruding rib cage area and rib flare vs natural bone variation / body fat deposition etc

For example with the photo below: would this be an example of rib flare? or just a natural variation in bone structure? or another reason?

Rib flare

Hi,

Thanks for your query

The image attached shows rub flare of moderate grade.

Bone variation of any type are usually asymmetric.

Flare is symmetrical and can be seen in varying grades.

Hope I answered your query

Hi Dr. XXXXXXX

Thanks for your response.

I understand you would need more detail to answer precisely, but does the variation in shape and weight appear to be healthy (or at least not be unhealthy) based on the image?
