default
Posted on Sun, 26 Jan 2020
Question: We just missed pregnancy after IUI. The IUI implant date was Dec 6th, last period date was Nov 22nd. On Dec 27th beta hcg was 84 which dropped to 7 today. Please advise if we cannot undergo another IUI next month? Are there any issues or do we need to take one month break before another IUI? Thanks.

Brief Answer:
One month gap is better

Detailed Answer:
Hi,

I understand your concerns.

Following is my reply:

1) It is sad to know that this was biochemical pregnancy and did not continue.

2) However there is good chance of pregnancy again with IUI.

3) It is advisable to give one month gap before performing next IUI.

Let me know if you need anymore help.

Thank you for your response. Will there be any issues if we take another IUI this cycle? Is there a reason why one month gap is required?

Brief Answer:
To stabilize hormones

Detailed Answer:
Hi,

uterus would have undergone progesterone changes and levels of progesterone hormone will be high.

Hence better to give one month gap for hormones and uterus to stabilize.

Can we undergo IUI at this level?
Please advise. Thanks.

Brief Answer:
Wait

Detailed Answer:
Hi,

Beta hCG levels have to fall below 0.1 to say no pregnancy exists. You need to wait for a month as suggested

Thank you so much for your response. On second day of menustral, the beta hcg level is 5. On the first day the level was 7. There is no pregnancy as confirmed by ob. As we approach ovulation around the 15th day, beta hcg levels would have dropped to zero. Please confirm if you still see any issues. Thanks.

Please wait

Hi,

It means some small part of pregnancy tissue must be there and secreting progesterone hormone. This is not ideal time start IUI stimulation. Please wait for a month.
