Brief Answer:
Kindly give few more details

Detailed Answer:
Hi,

By definition, this is considered abnormal and treated only if it persists beyond 5 years of age. Anyhow, I can suggest few simple measures to decrease the frequency of wetting until then.
Before going to that, I would like to get few more details for a clear picture:

1. His present weight and height
2. Is the issue present during night time only, or through out the day?
3. Does he drink a lot of water/fluids, especially at night(comparing to siblings or children of same age)?
4. Is there any sleep disturbances like snoring?
5. Any history of constipation(tight/hard/painful/infrequent bowel motion)?
6. Any daytime bladder symptoms like dysuria(pain or discomfort during urination), too frequent voiding, urgency(difficult to hold bladder once an urge arises)?

Kindly get back with details, so that I can guide you better
Regards, Dr Aslam

Brief Answer:
Need not worry

Detailed Answer:
Hi XXXXXXX
Thank you for the details given

Since he do not have any daytime symptoms, there is nothing to worry and we need not go for any investigations or drug treatment as of now. Treatment with drugs is indicated only after 6 years of age(at least 5). But take care of the following measures for some relief:

1. Avoid caffeinated drinks like tea/coffee/sodas in the evening
2. Restrict fluid intake after 6pm
3. Reassure the child, give emotional support and avoid any feeling of guilt- never scold or punish
4. Insist to void just before going to bed
5. Keep a dry diary, appreciate and credit dry nights with praise
6. Find out the approximate time when the child voids at night, and set an alarm before that, to void once midnight.

I hope this answer will help
