Question: Welcome to 'Ask a Doctor'. Please type your question here...in
Menopause, spotted blood the beginning of May. One of the days I spotted, some blood in my underwear and when I wiped, blood was on the outside of my vaginal area . I wiped my skin and blood was on the paper. My skin felt raw as if it was scratched. I wiped twice and this never happened again. I told my Dr so he suggested I get checked out since I had two different episodes. I’m going on the 27th of May. No spotting or discharge at this time. I’m 62 years old. What does this sound like?

Brief Answer:
Get further evaluated.

Detailed Answer:
Hello dear, welcome to 'Ask A Doctor' service.
I read your query and here is my advice.

I think you should get further evaluated. Every bleeding or spotting in menopause should get investigated because it is not normal and may indicate some pathology.

Something spotting may happen because of atrophy of the mucosal lining making it fragile due to hormone insufficiency.

The thickness of the endometrial lining is also possible in this age and this should be evaluated. A transvaginal ultrasound is needed.

Hope I have answered the question.
Let me know if I can assist you further.

Thank you. My Dr had mentioned the thinning of my uterine walls. Glad I’m going so I can put this behind me.
