Question: Welcome to 'Ask a Doctor'. Please type your question here...my dad was just diagnosed with advanced prostate cancer. His psa levels are 14/15. He is 72 years old. He has COPD and type 2 diabetes. Could you give me more information about what we may expect?
Brief Answer:
We need to ascertain the stage
Detailed Answer:
Hi
Thanks for your query.
I understand your concerns.
The first step now is to know the grade and stage of the disease. Grade is mentioned in the biopsy report. For stage we need few investigations like MRI, bone scan or PET scan.
If it is localized, then we can do surgery or radiation along with hormonal therapy. If it has spread elsewhere, then hormonal therapy is given.
If you can revert with more data on above, then I may be able to guide you better.
Hope this helps.
Regards
