What Are Chances Of Pregnancy While On Treatment For PCOD?

Question: Hello....my wife has irregular periods...later she diagnosed with pcod problem...doc operated her cyst...now she was suggested to take ccq 100 tab from 2nd to 6th day of period & lynoral from 9th to 16th day of period. Wanted to know her chances of preganancy after this treatment

Following is my reply:

1) Your doctor might have done ovarian drilling laparoscopically for PCOS.

2) This medicine your doctor has prescribed will help in growth of egg in the ovary.

3) But let me tell you that there is no treatment that is hundred percent.

4) Since you are young there is higher chance of pregnancy.

5) Get follicular growth scan done regularly and have intercourse when follicular growth is around 18mm.

Doctor has prescribed to take these medicines for 3 to 4 months.
Whether these medicines are safe to take for this period?
secondly, if there is no conception after 5 to 6 months, shall we go for IVF or wht should we do?
besides, whether IVF is always successful?

These medicines are safe to be taken for 3 to 4 months and hence continue the same with follicular growth scan as i mentioned.

next option if you dont conceive with these medicines would be IUI and if you dont conceive with IUI for 3 months you can opt for IVF.

As I told you earlier none of the methods are hundred percent successful. Not even IVF

The doc has also suggested to take obimet containing metaformin for 2 months.
why it is being used ?
And what is IUI? What are the costs of IUI & IVF?

Metformin helps in lowering insulin resistance in patients with PCOS.

IUI ( Intrauterine Insemination ) is a procedure in which your sperms are cleaned and put in your wife's womb during ovulation.

IUI costs around 2000 rupees and IVF aroud 90 thousand rupees.

Dear Sir
I stay at damanjodi, Koraput Dist near to Vizag city.
Earlier my wife had irregular period problems & she was not able to conceive.
We had been to our company doc & she asked us to do follucular study. On 11th day of period in the month of march, my wife did ultrasound & it was 9 mm with no DF. then we had been to Dr. V Sitaram XXXXXXX famous gynacologist, he did scanning & diagnosed with PCOD & sugested to do Laproscopy. That was done in April & she was advised to take all these medicines. Now shall we try these medicines for 3 4 months or shall we do IUI & IVF. What are the good hospitals for the same near to our place with good success rate.
What shoud we do? Sometimes we do get frustrated & become impatient.
Please suggest
