What Are Precaution To Be Taken Before Starting Bag Punching ?
![default](/r/images/default.png)
Question: Hi,
I have recently joined a boxing club like a month ago. A week back i started with bag punching.
I had no issue for a couple of days, as i was able to punch without any pain with a proper form, without hurting my arms or wrists.
but recently the part that connects the wrist and the pinky finger started paining while punching. the pain is very mild, but i am not able to punch hard due to the fear as well.
Please guide me what i can do about it, as i really would like to continue boxing.
thank you

Brief Answer:
could be stress fracture / soft tissue injury
Detailed Answer:
Hi ,
I have read your details that you have pain in hand following punching bag.
It can be due to two main reasons
1. Could be stress fracture in the neck of 5th Metacarpal.
2. Could be a soft tissue injury in hand due to repetitive force being used.
I would suggest
1. X ray of the hand
2. any pain killers , with hot fomentation and local application of analgesic cream
3. complete rest from punching bags for 3 weeks and restart slowly , if all the reports are normal.
Thanks for the question. I hope to have answered your question
Please feel free to ask any other question.
