What about muscle spasms and cramping?
Brief Answer:
They can be present but kostly present in low salt states.
Detailed Answer:
Hello thanks for writing back,
There are many non specific symptoms of dehydration like delerium, altered mental status ..etc..
Muscle spasm can be there too but mostly it is there when there is electrolyte imbalance as well... Muscle spasm can be there in case of electrolyte imbalance WOTHOUT dehydration. For example if a patient ran 3 kilometres in summers he lost salts through sweat and kept drinking water which has no salts. He can have muscle spasms... although there is no dehydration.
Regards.

Brief Answer:
here is what you can do
Detailed Answer:
Hello thanks for writing back,
For spasm you need to see a few things...
1) If there is anaemia.
2) imbalance in salts.
3) Hormonal imbalance.
4) Vitamin D3 and calcium deficiency.
Here the good thing is that you can get these causes better by using simple things.
1) Use vitamin D3 and calcium supplement.
2) If your BP is controlled you can use salt containing liquids like getorade.. TANG to replenish salts.
3) Regular use of multivitamins like
Centrum-women can help much.
Pain killer will help.Tylenol is good.
Muscle relaxants like movax is good in cramps this you can discuss with your doctor.
Best regards

what can I do for cramps and spasms?
Thank you -just read your message about vitamins, etc. have been taking , D3, coQ10, multivitamin (without iron because of high level of iron content in my last blood work) and b12 and calcium citrate plus D3 (because of no iron. Just started taking this last week.). Had been taking CVS Spectravite (ultra Women) but Dr. Told me to hold off for a while on the iron. Never took this brand of Calcium Citrate I was just taking the regular Calcium which also had D3 in it..

Brief Answer:
You are taking a very good set of meds for your problems.
Detailed Answer:
Hello,
Thanks for writing back,
You are already taking a very good combination of medication for your problem. Such things take some time to get replenished like vitamin D may take 3-6 months to get back to good normal levels and then it starts working and rebuilding your body so it may take a while for you to see the results.
I will like you to continue the medication you are already taking along with that keep a very good food habit maintain a good weight and eat fruits and vegetables regularly no vitamin and mineral supplement is better than the natural one. You will start seeing improvement in a couple of months but you have to be consistent and patient.
I am quite positive that your treatment is heading the right direction and great improvement is expected.
Best regards,
Dr.Muhammad Ahmad
