Brief Answer:
Discuss it with doctor
Detailed Answer:
Hi and welcome.
If I understand well, there were no positive lymph nodes. If this is right then radiation would be preventive measure. Tongue cancer has tendency to spread through cervical lymph nodes very quick so this is reason why radiation is recommended to reduce risk of cancer spreading. It is hard to calculate odds, but there are standard algorithms and your should discuss wiith your oncologist. The final decision is always yours. Side effects include skin redness, dry mouth, nausea and swallowing difficulties but usually patients can stand it very good.Wish you good health. Regards
