What Are The Chances Of HIV Infection After Protected Anal And Oral Sex?

default
Posted on Mon, 5 Jan 2015
Question: I had anal sex with a friend few minutes ago and i used moisturiser first and then used cooking oil on top of it. And the condom broke and he immediately pulled out his penis. There was no blood or pre cum. I cleaned my anal zone with water and then we used a fresh condom with moisturiser cream. This time the condom didnt break. I am worried what if he has HIV? I asked him and he said he has never fucked anyone without condom and he should be hiv negative. But i cannot trust anyone and i am worried. Please tell me what should i do now? Should i convince him to get a hiv test asap? what are my chances of getting HIV? I have tested myself 2 months back and i tested negative and after that i have never had intercourse with anyone. Although i had 2 oral sex. Please help

Brief Answer:
Less likely to get HIV infection

Detailed Answer:
Hello

Thanks for the query

I am happy that you were insiting on a condom. Since the the penis was removed immediately after the condom broke and there was no bleeding or mixing of secretion you are not likely to get a HIV infection.
Oral sex does not transmit HIV so do not worry about it .

I don't believe people can be convinced to get a HIV test done however you can get tested after 2 weeks with a Western blot technique of HIV test and then once again after 3 months

I hope I was of help, if you have any further queries please get back to me

Hi doc,
Its been 13 days since i spoke to you. Couple of symptoms i had during this phase is i had a fever blister just below my nose. But i get that often whenever i am stressed or get less sleep. I thought it could be due to that as i am going through major stress since the time i have mailed you. Also, since yesterday i am getting mild eruptions on my left shoulder without any color and they are very itchy. They might be due to dryness and cold. As i had these kind of colorless itchiness before also due to my dry skin. I will get my test done tomorrow which is 14 days since the time i last mailed you. My question is ... How accurate the test is which is done after 14 days from the time of incident?

Brief Answer:
Dryness

Detailed Answer:
Hello

Nice to hear from you again

Thanks for attaching the photo, I have seen it and I think the small bumps you have could be due to dryness of skin. Please keep your skin well moisturized, it is not a symptom of HIV.

HIV test done after 2 weeks is not very accurate however sensitivity on a western blot technique increases when done after 2 weeks. Window period of HIV is up to 3 months, which means that you can get false negative results up to that time. That is why I requested you to repeat it once again after 3 months.
