What Are The Chances Of HIV Infection After Unprotected Intercourse?

Question: Hi Doctor, I'm male 37 years old, Living in Florida, circumcised. A week ago I was stupid enough to have unprotected vaginal sex with an escort. I'm worried sick about HIV or STD's. What are my chances of catching any viruses from one time encounter? I want to add few things, no anal was performed and no ejaculating. I was inside of here no more than a minute each time (3 times). I would really appreciate your input.
Brief Answer:
The risk of getting HIV is very less.
Detailed Answer:
Dear XXXX,
Welcome to HCM.
You had unprotected sex with an escort for short duration of one minute then the risk of getting HIV is very less even if she was HIV positive with such single exposure so don't get worried or anxious.
You can go for HIV testing after one month to clear your doubts and the result will give satisfaction for the status. Avoid such risky encounters in future to prevent the risk of HIV as well as other STDs.
Thank You

Thank you Doctor.
Of course i'll never do that mistake. I was told she is clean and again I was stupid enough to believe that.
I was checking online and I found out that there is something called early HIV which can be taken 9 days after the exposure. Is that something I should be doing. I'm aware that I still need to retest after a month as you stated.
One last thing, can you provide any statistics please? It's really hard right now and anything would help.
Thanks again.

Don't worry the risk is very low in your case.

The risk of getting HIV from unprotected sex is just 0.04 percent per 1000 people so calm down your self and go for the test after one month. If still any doubt left in your mind feel free to ask me anytime.

Doctor,
Today I've took the RNA HIV test. I called the Lab and they told me I can get an accurate result if the test is done in 9 to 11 days period. I;ll submit the result once I got them. Now I want to make sure how accurate is the RNA HIV test? One last thing.. The one who took the blood sample told me i have a high risk of contacting HIV :(

Brief Answer:
HIV RNA test is reliable after two weeks.
Detailed Answer:
Dear XXXX,
Welcome back once agian.
HIV RNA test is reliable after 2 weeks of exposure or even earlier at 10 days also but to get still highly accurate result you need to go for repeat test after one month and three months as per guideline.
The risk of getting HIV from single short exposure is very unlikely and the figures are also saying the same so don't get worried or anxious, wait for test result of HIV RNA and hope for the best.
Thank You

Doctor, I've received the full panel test and I'm infected with HSV 1 :( I'm not sure how dangerous is that! Please let me know.
Brief Answer:
There is nothing like that in attached report.
Detailed Answer:
Dear XXXX,
Welcome back and thanks for follow-up.
HSV1 or oral herpes is transmitted through oral secretions and sores on the skin and it is not dangerous at all. What you need to do is avoid any kind of high risk activity like oral sex or kissing. The medicines like acyclovir, famcyclovir can help infected individuals reduce the risk of spreading the virus to other people. But the attached report is not showing any result for herpes then why are you worried.
Thank You

Sorry doctor. I forgot to attach the report. I've just attached it now. Is this something that can be cured or treated? No kissing at all?
Brief Answer:
The symptoms are preventable with medicines.
Detailed Answer:
Dear XXXX,
Once infected there is no definite cure for herpes but the medicines will help in reducing the pain or other symptoms. Along with you have to maintain your sexual hygeine. Don't get worried or anxious because with precautions it will not bother you.
