What Are The Chances Of HIV Transmission Through Kissing?

Question: Hi, I was on a date last week with a girl I met online. Towards the end we kissed and she was into biting and bit my bottom lip. I tasted blood and think it was mine. I haven't heard from her since and don't know her background. Is there any chsnce I was infected w HIV? I've read a lot of articles and don't know what to believe. I'd appreciate any help , thanks
Brief Answer:
HIV does not spread through kissing.
Detailed Answer:
Hi,
Welcome to health care magic,
I have read your query and understand the concern.
Just kissing never cause spreading of HIV.
HIV can be spread only by means of sexual contact or blood to blood contact or from maternal to child.
It might require large volume of saliva for transmission of HIV which can not be possible by just kissing or biting each others lips.(Provided that one of the person is infected with HIV.)
So don't worry and just be relaxed. You have no chance of HIV.

So even if there was blood from my lip that i tasted there is zero chance? Sorry if like to just be 100% sure
Brief Answer:
Very less chance of HIV transmission through small cut over lips.
Detailed Answer:
Hi,
Thanks for the follow-up.
As I said earlier, there is negligible chance of getting HIV through kissing or biting lips because it might require large volume of saliva or even blood for the transmission of infection. As you had blood on your lips through small cut (during kissing), there is very less chance (very insignificant) of contracting infection unless the person is having very high HIV viral load in his/her blood and body started secreting HIV in body fluids like saliva, urine, sweat, etc. Cases of high viral load secreted into salivary secretions are very few and exceedingly uncommon.
So for all practical cases, your chance of getting HIV infection is exceedingly low. I would say it is close to zero. But if you are still panicked, you can go for ELISA HIV testing after 3 months after the exposure.
Hope it will clear now.
