Question: Hello Doctor,

I am 27 years old and live sin XXXXXXX I am dating a girl since one month. On Sunday, 22nd March, I had protected sex with her. This was twice in a month. I mean I had protected sex with her exactly two weeks ago too. I used latex condom both times. But sex for me is stressful activity as I always get worried about hiv. Now I feel little cold and my lips are dry tearing a bit. I don't know what it is. But I am worried about HIV. What should I do?

Do you think I need testing?

Thanks doctor. Well, is the rapid test good, if done after 6 weeks.

Above all I feel better with your comments. It may be my anxiety.

Brief Answer:
Will help but not conclusive at 6 weeks.

Detailed Answer:
Hi
Thank you for follow up query.
If you are happy and relieved we will also be happy.Thank you for compliments.

Rapid tests may be help but will not be conclusive at 6 weeks exposure. They are conclusive after 3 months or 12 weeks.
So better go for HIV RNA PCR at this stage, followed after 3 months by antibodies tests.

You can get back for any clarification.
Thank you
