What Are The Chances Of Hepatitis C Transmission Through Injections?
Question: My daughter received gamma shots for about 8 months when she was about 2 yrs old and we found out 10 years ago that she had Hep C and she died March 2015 and Hep C was a contributor along with alcohol. Could she have contracted the Hep C from the Gamma shots in 1964?
Brief Answer:
It is possible
Detailed Answer:
Hello,
I'm sorry to know about your daughter's problems. This is very hard on the parents...
All blood products could transmit hepatitis C until hepatitis C was discovered. After 1990 the blood products are supposed to be checked and free of hepatitis C. Hepatitis C can also be transmitted by illicit drug injections (needle sharing), by the mother when she gives birth to her baby and by sexual contact (less commonly).
I hope I've helped!
You can contact me again, if you'd like any clarifications or further information.
Kind Regards!
