What Are The Chances Of STD After Oral Sex?
Question: Hello, I am a 31 year old healthy male. I recently had oral sex and analingus preformed on me by another man.
The incident lasted no longer than 3 mins.
Should I be worried about HIV and other stds?
How common is it to carry an std like syphillis in the mouth?
Would having an STD in someone's mouth allow HIV to transmit easier?

Hi
Thank you for query. I am Dr Bharatesh D Basti answering your query.
Welcome to health care magic.
The chances of transmission of HIV by oral sex is almost nil , unless there is open wounds in both partners,in the areas of contact.
The chances of transmission of HIV by anal sex is higher. But if it was only analingus, then the chances are almost nil unless open wound in both.
So the risk is almost nil in either of situations.
The chances of oral syphilis is very rare .
If there are any STDs or wounds in oral cavity, the risk of transmission of HIV is increased.
You can get back for any clarification.

Since the chances of transmissions are almost nil i take it post exposure prophylaxis would not be recommended?
You mentioned that open wounds or as std in the mouth would increase the risk. Would the risk still be negligible?
