What Are The Chances Of Conceiving Post Usage Of Clomid?
Question: Hi. In this cycle i have taken clomid 150. I have got two follicles of size15mm and 14 mm at 14th day of my period. My doc gave me HCG iu 5000 injection. the next day the 15mm follicle ruptured confirmed by transversed scan. then she did IUI. My question is that, is there any possibility to get pregnant in this cycle.
Brief Answer:
Fair chance of pregnancy
Detailed Answer:
Hi dear, I have gone through your question and understand your concerns. Yes, there is a good possibility of pregnancy in this cycle as IUI was done after the rupture of the dominant follicle. Maximum chances of pregnancy in an IUI cycle is 30-35%, so fair chances are there. You should take progesterone support in the form of tablets for the next 14 days to maximise the chances of pregnancy.

mam, I have two questions. My follicle did not grow to 18mm (only 15 mm) before HCG triggering. Was it ruptured good ovum . My second question is the time gap between the transverse scan (by which ovulation was confirmed) and IUI is almost 10 hours. Is there any chances of fertilization.

Detailed answer below
Detailed Answer:
Hi dear, thanks for responding.
1. The follicle is said to be dominant once it reaches to a size of 14-16mm. It is not necessary for the follicle to reach a size of 18 mm before ovulation and releasing a good ovum.
2. The ovum is viable for 24 hours after ovulation, therefore IUI done after 10 hours of confirmation of ovulation has the high chances of fertilization.
