Hello Dr. XXXXXXX
This happened a little less than 1 hour ago. I was informed by he Doctor less than 1 week ago that her viral load is roughly 87,000. She is not undergoing any treatment. I was also informed by her doctor that she does not have any fibrosis and that she most likely had the virus for several years.
I have had tests in the past but tested negative.Do you need any other specific details?
Thank you Dr. XXXXXXX

Brief Answer:
1.8 % chance of HCV infection after needle injury.
Detailed Answer:
Hello , I understand your concern.
- After a needle injury to HCV-positive blood, the risk of HCV infection is 0%–10% approximately. You may develop the Hepatitis C virus infection as you have needle stick injury.
- But washing the hand with antiseptic soap and water and other general care will reduce your chance for developing HCV further.
