theoretically.
Certainly moist secretions have live virus in them. But, they have to be still moist, once things dry out the virus dies. Furthermore, how much virus matters and it isn't that easy to get through the skin. It's not very likely short of direct contact. But remember that virus is present often without symptoms.

Brief Answer:
oh, it IS possible...

Detailed Answer:
and, the risk is really really low.
Here are several risks that are higher:
transmission of herpes from oral sex without visible lesions.
Him having previous genital herpes that is dormant and he does not know he has it.

So, ironically, even if he were to pop up with herpes in the next week--if one were to immediately have an outbreak after transmission it would be within the first week but establishment of a hidden infection can occur and have it pop out anytime later--regardless, you wouldn't know whether that particular contact caused the infection.

So should i be worried that i might have given it to him from him fingering me and then touching himself? Or you think that the chances of that happening are low?

Brief Answer:
The chances are very low

Detailed Answer:
the chances are very low.
There are many other ways he might have genital herpes separate from that one encounter as previously detailed (previous infection from even years ago that is hidden/dormant/latent) (previous infection if there were oral genital contact).
