What Are The Chances Of Pregnancy After Non Penetrative Intercourse?

default
Posted on Mon, 12 Jan 2015
Question: Can you have sex two days before your period is due, get that period as normal, then still be pregnant? Basically I had sex (we didn't actually have penetrative sex, but his penis did rub against my vagina and he ejaculated near my vagina, though not on it) two days before my period was due, it came on time and was completely normal. I had no sexual contact the following month but instead of getting my normal period, it came on time but was a light brown bloody discharge that lasted five days. The bleeding has stopped now but I still have a sore back and pelvic pains and I am extremely concerned that I could actually be pregnant! My cycle is normally 28-32 days. I am 18 and not on any medication.

Brief Answer:
No pregnancy

Detailed Answer:
Hello,

the way you and your partner touched each other is such that pregnancy would be very very unlikely. Having a normal period after the intercourse also suggests failure to get pregnant.
You haven't mentioned how many days have passed since the intercourse or your period. A sensitive way to find out if you're pregnant is measuring the blood levels of beta human chorionic gonadotropin (beta-hCG). This hormone needs at least 11 days after conception in order to be detected in the blood.
I hope I've helped!

After the intercourse, period came 2 days later. My next "period" came 28 days after my previous period. Bleeding lasted five days, finished 4 days ago. My main concern is the fact that my period just passed was a brown bloody discharge and not like my normal period, and the fact that even after this period I have backache and occasionally some pelvic pain.

Brief Answer:
You'd better do the test

Detailed Answer:
Hello,

nobody can give a 100% answer. If I had to bet, I'd bet all my money on "no pregnancy" for the reasons I explained in my previous answer.
Since you're very concerned, I'd suggest (again) testing for beta h-CG and contacting a gynaecologist. This is the best way to make sure if you're pregnant or not.
Please notice that common symptoms that accompany an early -not yet detected- pregnancy include breast tenderness, stomach problems, nausea etc. Some cramping uterine pain can also be felt.
I believe that your condition should seem more clear now.
If you still have questions, please let me know.

Kind Regards!
