Posted on Tue, 21 Apr 2015
Question: We had intercourse on 14 the day after her last period.I did not ejaculate in her vagina. Chances of sperm in the precum are rare as I have urinated twice or thrice before last intercourse. After that my gf took an ipill and got period as usual after 14 days. Now her second period is delay by 3 days. Is there any chance of pregnancy?

Brief Answer:
Do one home pregnancy test.

Detailed Answer:
Hello,

Thanks for writing to us. Followings are my comments:

1) I-pill gives more than 95% protection if taken within first 24 hrs, around 85% if taken within 24-48 hrs and 58% within 48-72 hrs.

In this case, you involved in sexual intercourse during her fertile period. However, chance of pregnancy is quite LOW as you DIDN'T ejaculate and she took I-PILL.

2) She got her withdrawal bleeding like period due to effect of the pill itself or it coincides. I suggest to undergo one home pregnancy test to clear doubt.

Hope, it helps for your information. Review with test result.

Wish your good health and take care yourself.

Brief Answer:
Consult with local doctor if test result is positive.

Detailed Answer:
Hello,

Thanks for follow up query.

1) Withdrawal bleeding and period bleeding CAN'T be differentiated visually. Period occurs naturally in every month WITHOUT using pill or medicine.

However, withdrawal bleeding occurs due to effect of heavy dose contraceptive or hormonal pill. Sometimes, it may coincide with regular period date.

2) Best thing: Do one home pregnancy test to check for pregnancy. It will help to determine next level of management.

On POSITIVE test, you should consult with local doctor or gynecologist for medical abortion. Abortion pill CAN'T be taken by own without consultation.

Hope, I have answered your query. Kindly, close the discussion.

All the best and good luck.

Regards,
Dr S Patra
