What Are The Chances Of Pregnancy After Taking Ipill Within 24 Hours Of Unprotected Intercourse?

Question: Hi! I am 26 female. I have pcod and therefore have been prescribed oral contraceptive I.e Dianne 35 for treatment. I have been taking it since a year regularly without any problems. I started my pack on 19th Feb and my last period was on 16th Feb. This month I had unprotected sex on 2 March (took all pills before this regularly) on 7th March I was unwell and puked after 1 hour of taking the pill. Then on 12th March I had unprotected sex again and since I thought I had puked out a pill during the month I took an emergency contraceptive the next day within 24 hours. I am supposed to start my next pack on 19th March. My first question is if I can be pregnant because of this whole situation and if I can take a blood test either today or tomorrow as I am travelling after this. Please help!

However, I would like to know, for how many days did you miss your OC pills in last month?
Also, please provide the details about your periods for last 3-4 cycles? This would help me to judge the safe period of your cycle.

Regarding your second questions- Kindly mention what blood tests do you refer to in your second question? is it serum beta HCG test?

Please find below my last 4 cycles details:

25th - 29th November 2014
23rd - 27th December 2014
23rd - 27th January 2015
16th - 20th February 2015

I haven't missed any pill since i last remember, may be for more than 2 months and I'm quite sure of it. Only puked out one pill on 7th March 2015 as i got food poisoning.

I had unprotected intercourse on 2nd march 2015 and I am only worried if i could be pregnant because of this because i read somewhere that sperm can live in a woman's body for about 5 days.

I generally get my period every tuesday on my break but today i didn't get it. Should i be worried? Is it because of the ipill that my period can be late?

As i am travelling abroad on 20th March i wanted to be sure that I'm not pregnant. Will the serum beta HCG test detect pregnancy right now?

Also, I did 2 urine tests at home yesterday and both were negative.

Is it too soon to take tests?

I am really worried because i will be coming back to XXXXXXX only after 3 weeks and im unmarried.

If incase im pregnant is it possible for me to get an abortion in Delhi?

Sorry for the delayed response.

You had an unprotected intercourse on 2nd march. But you were taking your pills at that time. So there are negligible chances of pregnancy.

Second, you had unprotected intercourse on 7th march. But you took ipill within 24 hours of it. Again, there are negligible chances of pregnancy.

In both the cases, there are almost 95% chances that you are NOT pregnant (nothing can be 100%).

Sperms live for 5 days in woman's body but the ovum degenerates within 24 hours. So, there are negligible chances of fertilization.

Ipill can cause early or delayed periods. Do not worry about that.

Blood beta HCG levels can be detect after implantation, which occurs on average 9 days (range 6-12 days) after fertilization.
So in your case, blood beta HCG can detect pregnancy now.
Two tests, 2-3 days apart, are usually necessary to verify for pregnancy.

The UPT was negative. I think its not early but the right time or the tests.

Medical termination of pregnancy is possible with drugs (though there are negligible chances of pregnancy).

Since I have to start my next pack of OC pills tomorrow should i do it if i don't get my period?

Since im coming back to XXXXXXX on 14th April will it still be possible for me to get a medical abortion? Or will it be late by then?

As the chances of pregnancy are low, I do not think you would require abortion.

But, if the abortion is needed by any chance, it can be done with the help of drugs when you return to XXXXXXX on 14th april.
