What Are The Chances Of Pregnancy After Unprotected Sex?

Question: On feb 28 , we had an unprotected sex, but it was safe.On march 4 we had protected sex..march 7 she had journey on train, and returned on 14, period date was on 14 or 15, there was intution but no period was there for 7 days, march 17,18,19,20 she had done her pregnancy test , first two days from i-can and other two days from preganews.. four times she got negative result. On 20 march friday night she got her heavy period, 21,22,23, was changing 4 pads for first two days. Her period cycle is of 7 days, But today morning she told that she had no period and this is her first time that it stopped before 3 days, but normally she always use to change her two pads daily. I had visited to one doctor here at banglore as period was late as usually she use to get her regular period. She told nothing to be worried. sometimes, it use to be late.

Now, my only concerned is that, why she had not 7 days of cycle and stopped in 4 days. Is there any chances of pregnancy?

I can understand your concern.

The opportunities of pregnancy are not there in her case because she had a proper period for 3-4 days and she had a negative pregnancy test after 7 days of missed period date.

The cycle can be sometimes irregular due to stress, anxiety, hormonal imbalance, over exercising etc.

This time her period may be delayed due to travelling, stress and mild hormonal imbalance.

Hence she should not be worried if she had 3-4 day period, it can be a normal physiological variation.

I have some more questions please help me out

1. Next month also she will have irregular period? If yes, then shall I take to the doctor or not? As she always use to have regular period till last month

2. Last saturday , she was telling me that she had heavy blood clot. Usually she use to be happened, but not like this time. Is there any concern for this?

3. If i am doing scanning to make sure that if she is pregnant or not, then what kind of scanning shall I do and what will be the cost of that scanning?

4. Before she had to have pain during period , but now from last two months, she doesn't have that much pain ,sometimes little. Is there also any concern for this?

Doctor please help me out from this questions?

Here are all the answers to your questions-

1)Yes, her period may be delayed next month also and you should consult a gynaecologist and get herself examined and investigation performed to rule out the cause.

2) Usually clots are not there in normal menstrual cycle but when you are having heavy bleeding, clots are not dissolved and appear in menstrual blood.

3) You should go for ultrasound pelvis or ultrasound lower abdomen and its price is around 600rs.in your city.

4) If pain is not there, then it should not be a cause of worry.
