Brief Answer:
QUITE LOW CHANCE OF PREGNANCY.

Detailed Answer:
Hello,

Thanks for writing to us.

1) I-PILL (emergency pill) gives more than 95% protection against unwanted pregnancy when it is taken within first 24 hrs of unprotected sex. Here, chance of her pregnancy is quite LOW.

2) She will get withdrawal bleeding within 5 to 7 days after taking the pill. It is quite normal and physiological phenomena.

3) I suggest you to undergo one home pregnancy test 2 weeks after last sexual intercourse (20th Sept) to clear doubt regarding pregnancy.

Hope, it helps for your information. Kindly, close the discussion if you don't have any other query.

Wish her good health and practice safe sex in future.

Regards,
Dr S Patra

What withdrawal bleeding? and does that mean when she gets withdrawal bleeding that she will not get pregnant? Is it mandatory that she gets withdrawal bleeding?

Last question: if she was ovulating the day we had sex, will I-Pill still work?

Brief Answer:
DETAILS ARE GIVEN BELOW.

Detailed Answer:
Hello,

Thanks for follow up queries.

1) Yes, I-PILL will work even she ovulated on that day. She will get more than 95% protection against unwanted pregnancy.

2) Withdrawal bleeding occurs due to sudden withdraw of I-pill which leads to sudden falling of body progesterone level (takes few days) after initial high dose.

3) Most women get withdrawal bleeding after taking I-PILL. However, it doesn't mean that she is 100% SAFE from pregnancy.

4) Withdrawal bleeding is NOT a mandatory thing. It occurs naturally as side effect. However, it DOESN'T alter the effectiveness of the pill without bleeding.

5) One home pregnancy test is mandatory if her next period delays more than 1 week to clear doubt.

Hope, I have answered your all queries. Kindly, close the discussion.

All the best and good luck.

Regards,
Dr S Patra
