What Are The Effects Of Oxandrolone On Laryngeal Frame Work?
I recently asked about effects of a 3 month course oxandrolone on laryngeal framework. As per your valued advice there is no effect.
Just in case the oxandrolone did contribute to laryngeal growth, i would feel happy if laryngeal framework undergoes turnover. Does it undergo constant turnover of its constituents ie collagen, elastin, epilitheal etc ?
The turn-over of the collagen at this age of yours is minimal...
Detailed Answer:
Hi
Welcome back and I sincerely apologize for the delay in answering your query.
1. Oxandrolone doesn't close the epiphysial growth plates like most other steroids do. Secondly, the laryngeal cartilage is unaffected by oxandrolone.
2. Yes, there will constant turnover of the collagen of the laryngeal cartilage up to middle of the second decade. Later-on, as the body becomes aged, the turn-over of the elastic component reduces.
3. In the present age of yours, the laryngeal cartilage starts getting ossified and as the ossification progresses more of the spongy bone starts accumulating rather than the elastic cartilage. Hence, the laryngeal framework will become more firm, stable and brittle, but very unlikely to expand.
4. This brittleness of the laryngeal frame-work helps in improving the voice quality of many singers.
Hope this clarifies your doubts, revert back to me if you have any follow-up queries.
