What Are The Levels Of Cotinine That Will Show Up In A Blood Test After 8 Days Of Not Smoking?
Question: Hello,
I am going to be screened for Tobacco products for employment. I was a 1-2 pack smoker for the last 20 years up until 48 hours ago. Additionally, I am overweight by about 50lbs, I am a very big and muscular guy with fat to lose.
I have wanted to quit anyway as I am sick of wasting my money and ruining my health. I quit smoking approximately 48hrs ago cold turkey. Besides being a little dizzy every now and again I feel great!
However, I do have to take this Tobacco test next week. I think that I will have approximately 8 days of being smoke free before the test. There is so much information on Cotinine testing, one website says 4 days and others say 14 days. I really want this job and not smoking to get it is a win, win!
Can you please let me know what you believe are the levels of Cotinine that will show up in a blood test after 8 days of not smoking? Will I pass? Will running and sweating out the toxins in my body help the process?
Thank you for any information you can provide.

Brief Answer:
Most likely you will pass
Detailed Answer:
Hi,
For regular users of Nicotine products it takes almost 5-7 days to get clearance of cotinine from your system to get negative test results. There is possibility that you may pass the test although there are also chances of failing test because of smoking over the last 20 years.
It is advised to use of plenty of fluids during this time to fasten the process as other things have little value.
I hope this helps you. Feel free to write back to me if you have more questions.
Thanks.
Regards
