Pls advise the appropriateness of my using cinnamon spice and its possible side effects? If so advised, what is the name of one or two of them that I may buy? An appropriate background article source is listed below.

Brief Answer:
About Cinnamon;

Detailed Answer:
Well, there are controversial studies regarding to cinnamon effect in improving glucose level.
Evidence has shown that cinnamon may improve insulin resistance by preventing and reversing impairments in insulin signalling in skeletal muscle and in adipose tissue but it is not approved by Food and Drug Administration as a line of treatment for type 2 Diabetes.
Anyway, the dose studied to be effective without adverse reaction is 1 gr daily.
Regarding the brand name there are many, you just have to ask about cinnamon powder in pharmacy or spicy shops.
Hope the information is helpful.
Kind regards,
Dr.Mirjeta

Brief Answer:
I would consider ''risky'' the dose of 5 gr.

Detailed Answer:
Welcome back,
Medscape has done a review of ten studies and the dose suggested is 1-6 gm. Having into consideration your age (the liver and renal function is supposed to get lower) i recommended the lowest dose to be as safe as possible.
