I understand your concern.
Risk of lung cancer from smoking is directly related to the quantity and duration of smoking(described in terms of pack years).
Even though we can reduce further increase in risk by stopping smoking, unfortunately there are no options available to revers the effect of previous exposure.
So let's just prevent further exposure. Avoid even passive smoking by keeping away from others smoke.
You need not worry much. Cessation at any point will definitely help reducing risk of developing lung cancer.
